Winter Naturalists Rally to celebrate Roan

Black bears are no longer uncommon in Tennessee and other southeastern states. With the resurgence in bear numbers, experts must try to find ways for humans to coexist with bears. Dan Gibbs, the Statewide Bear Program Leader for Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, will present a program on black bears at this year’s Roan Mountain Winter Naturalists Rally.

It’s easy to appreciate the beauty and wealth of natural resources of Roan Mountain in the spring, summer and fall, but the slopes of this mountain located on the Tennessee-North Carolina line can be a little more difficult to appreciate during the winter months.
