Kaitlyn Poole had 17 kills, eight digs and four aces as the Maroons outlasted Hogoheegee District foe Northwood for a 25-17, 29-31, 22-25, 25-11, 16-14 volleyball triumph Tuesday.

Tara Patterson added eight kills and Kaylee Crockett and Cha Shupe led the GW defense with 13 and 11 digs, respectively.

Kailey Ingo dished out 27 assists and Savanna DiYorio added 10 for the Maroons.

Northwood was led by Haylee Frye (36 assists, three aces), Catie Boardwine (12 kills, 31 digs, two aces) and Melody Ashley (54 digs, six aces).

Richlands 3, Graham 0

Lauren Sword had 12 kills and 10 digs while Olivia Harmon had 25 assists, seven digs and three blocks to lead the Blues to a 25-12, 25-18, 25-18 win over Graham.

Mackenzie Osborne (16 service points, 11 aces, five kills, six digs) and Rachel Elkins (15 service points, five aces, nine digs) also led Richlands (2-0).

Sullivan South 3, Sullivan East 0

Three Rivers Conference power Sullivan South stormed to a 25-12, 25-20, 25-14 win over the Sullivan East Patriots.

East received 11 digs from Kelseay Smith and six assists, three digs and two aces from Sierra Arnold.

Sullivan Central 3, David Crockett 0

Camille Lucas served four aces as Sullivan Central recorded a 25-18, 25-19, 26-24 victory over David Crockett.

Kayley Holtzclaw (10 digs) and Sydney Hurd (29 assists) also starred in the victory.

Abingdon 3, John Battle 0

Madison Asher had nine kills and five aces as Abingdon earned a 25-19, 25-19, 25-21 win over Washington County rival John Battle.

Mattie Gibson (nine kills), Madison Grimsley (13 digs), Mackayla Wise (six digs) and Kari Walker (28 assists) also starred for AHS.

Michaela Monk’s seven digs and Courtney Kinder’s 13 assists led the way for Battle.

Marion 3, Patrick Henry 0

Callee Cox slammed down 10 kills and notched three blocks to lead Marion to a 25-16, 25-10, 25-6 win over Hogoheegee District foe Patrick Henry.

Caeley Glisan also had three blocks for Marion and added seven kills.

Other leaders for the Scarlet Hurricanes included Abbie Jennings (21 digs) and Margaret Wagner (four kills, nine digs).

Patrick Henry got 20 digs from Lacy Robinson and eight kills from Madison Booth.

Rye Cove 3, Union 2

Talk about finishing strong.

Rye Cove was shaky in the middle portion of the match, but indomitable down the stretch as the Eagles prevailed for a 25-23, 13-25, 20-25, 25-18, 15-1 win over Union to remain unbeaten.

The Eagles (4-0) took a 6-0 lead in the decisive final frame and then finished off the win with nine straight points.

Leaders for Rye Cove included Callie Carter (20 kills, 12 digs, two blocks), Courtney Bishop (seven kills, 42 digs, two aces), Reagan Kerns (40 assists, 23 digs) and Haley Tomlinson (nine kills).

Union (1-1) was led by Emili Brooks (17 kills, 33 digs), Zoe Brooks (37 assists, 18 digs, three aces), Emilee Mullins (eight kills, five digs), Jayda Smith (10 kills, four digs, two blocks) and Jenna Wade (36 digs).

Eastern Montgomery 3, Rural Retreat 1

Emma Ryan served seven aces as Eastern Montgomery earned a 25-9, 26-24, 19-25, 25-21 victory over Rural Retreat.

Hannah Roberts (11 kills), Brenna King (11 digs) and Ally Powell (10 kills) were the leaders for Rural Retreat, a program now coached by former Marion High School and Virginia Intermont College standout Morgan Goodbrod.

Late Monday

Eastside 3, Lebanon 2

Kaylee Jones had 32 kills and 25 digs as Eastside outlasted Lebanon for a 25-15, 23-25, 25-19, 23-25, 15-8 victory.

Hannah Buchanan (16 service points), Hannah Wyrick (30 digs) and Lacey Austin (17 digs, 13 service points, 12 kills) also starred for the Spartans.


Tennessee High 10, Volunteer 0

Chloe Arnold scored four goals and Myra Howren added two as Tennessee High improved to 7-0 with their sixth shutout of the season.

Ellie Massengill, Eden Easterling, Kennedy Campbell and Abby Corder added goals for THS, while Maddy Wolfe served as the goalkeeper.
