On Tuesday, June 11, voters in the 5th District can take the first step in reelecting a proven leader and strong advocate for our region to the House of Delegates. We are proud to serve alongside Del. Israel O’Quinn and have him as part of our team fighting for Southwest Virginia. He is a principled, energetic and faithful servant of his constituents, and we encourage you to support him in the June 11 Republican Primary.
Many of you know Israel. You’ve worshipped with him at a church service, seen him at your kid’s school event or talked to him at a community function. Over the years, he has ingrained himself in his local communities, making himself accessible to his constituents and gaining a personal understanding of the issues that matter most to them.
In Richmond, Israel has worked to craft policies that create jobs, cut burdensome regulations, and support our schools. With his leadership this year, we were able to increase at-risk education funding which will directly benefit schools in Southwest Virginia. Also, one of the most significant pieces of individual legislation passed this year was sponsored by Israel. Working with public utilities, his broadband bill could be a game changer for increasing and improving connections in rural communities. This is becoming a necessity for quality of life and economic development.
Southwest Virginia has a lot at stake in this upcoming election. This year we got a glimpse of some extreme legislation that we know will come up for a vote again next year. We need legislators we can count on to defeat late-term abortion, stop the Green New Deal, and oppose tax increases and policies that will kill jobs and hurt families here at home. Israel’s record proves his commitment to standing up for our values.
Of the 140 members that make up the Virginia General Assembly, seven represent Southwest Virginia. By comparison, 26 members represent all or parts of Fairfax County in Northern Virginia. While we may be small in number, we work hard as a team to make sure our constituents have a voice and get things done for our region. Del. Israel O’Quinn helps make this possible, and we hope you will vote to reelect him on June 11!
