CHILHOWIE, Va. Curtis Don Warren, age 59, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at the Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn. Curtis was born on June 11, 1959, in Smyth County, Va. He is preceded in death by his father, Don Warren; grandmother, Viola Warren; uncles, Kenneth Warren and Fields Warren; and step father, Ernest Leonard Henderson. Curtis had almost 30 years of service working for VDOT. He also spent many hours working on his cattle farm in Chilhowie. He enjoyed spending time hunting and playing golf. Curtis was a faithful member of Grosses Creek Baptist Church in Chilhowie. Most of all he will be remembered as a kind good hearted man that always tried to help anyone he could. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Warren of Chilhowie; mother, Eva Henderson of Chilhowie; brother, Joe Allen Warren of Chilhowie; sister, Beverly Ward and husband, Steve of Marion; stepchildren, Patricia Molinary and husband, Pete of St. Paul, Melissa Lawson and husband, David of N.C., Melanie Edmisten Teaters of Abingdon, and Brian Edmisten of Coeburn; stepgrandchildren. Jessica Yonts, Kayla Lyles, Shane Teaters, Ryan Widener, Kaitlyn Widener, and Brianna Edmisten; stepgreat-grandchildren, Dustin and Ethan Yonts, and Waylon Pruitt; mother-in-law, Frances Thomas; several nieces, nephews, and cousins to include special nieces Debbie Mullins and Angela Whitaker; along with special friends Wade Blevins, Bud Sturgill, Kevin Testerman, and Kenny Wayne Warren. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the Grosses Creek Baptist Church in Chilhowie with Pastor George Jesse and Pastor Steve Hutton officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the church. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church cemetery.
