Roy James Parrott, 87, of Lebanon, Va., went to his Heavenly home on Monday, June 10, 2019, surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Ferndale, Mich., on October 11, 1931, he was the son of the late William Otis Parrott and Bonnie Russell Kiser Parrott of Carbo, Va. A veteran of the United States Army, Roy served his country during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Russell County School system after 28 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, one sister, one brother-in-law, and one sister-in-law. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Nora Lee Kiser Parrott; daughter, Gail White and friend, Ronnie Stevens; son, Norman Shannon Parrott and fiancée, Rita Kiser; one granddaughter; six grandsons; sister, Shirley Purcell (Mike); sisters-in-law, Helen Parrott, Betty Thomas, Shirley Kiser (Roger), Kristine Phelps (Paul), and Kathy Lambert (Doug); and special canine companion, Prissy. The family would like to thank Legacy Hospice and Kathy Lambert. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019, in the Owens Funeral Service Chapel with Minister Keith Hovis, Minister Ron Epling, and Minister Johnny Famer officiating with military graveside rites conducted by the Lebanon VFW Post 9864. Interment will follow in the Kiser Family Cemetery in Cleveland, Va. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
