Bristol, Va. - Police had video evidence of a Bristol medical doctor assaulting a patient before arresting him, according to court documents.
Warrants filed in Bristol Circuit Court, stated Dr Shannon Finch, who was arrested Monday for sexual assault, assaulted the same woman on multiple occasions and was caught on camera by a hidden device during the last assault.
Finch, 46, 18020 Nordyke Road, was charged with three counts of sexual battery and one count of attempted forcible sodomy for assaults during three separate medical visits at his 1318 Euclid Ave. practice. Court documents indicated Finch has no prior criminal convictions.
According to the warrants, the first assault occurred on or around May 5 when Finch, who is 6 foot 6 inches and weighs 300 pounds, groped the woman and put his mouth on her breasts. While Finch did this the woman told him repeatedly “he was freaking her out.” The woman later told police she was scared at the time of the assault and unsure how to handle the situation.
A second assault occurred on or around June 5 when Finch unsuccessfully attempted to forcibly undress the woman, groped her and then attempted to force her to perform oral sex on him all while she was seated in a chair, according to court documents
The third assault reportedly happened July 20, when Finch was caught on a hidden camera, which was attached to the woman, forcibly undressing her, undressing himself and attempted to force her to perform a sexual act before police detectives entered the room and intervened.
Bail for Finch was set at $5,000 bond with stipulations that he has a curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., couldn’t come in contact with the woman, could not practice medicine until the Virginia Board of Medicine makes a decision, should not leave the state except for legal counsel, should not change addresses from his home and should not drink excessively or use illegal drugs.
Finch posted bail and was released on July 31, according to the Bristol Sheriff Office.
The court date for Finch’s hearing is set for Oct. 4, 2018 at 9 a.m. Finch’s current legal representation is Ilya Berenshteyn of the Senter Law Firm located at 713 Volunteer Parkway in Bristol, Tennessee.
