BRISTOL, Tenn. — Site plans submitted for the Tenneva Hotel, a new Holiday Inn planned for Bristol, Tennessee, show that the building would be larger than previously reported at 115,769 square feet and would contain 147 guest rooms.

According to the plans, which the Bristol Herald Courier acquired through a records request to Bristol, Tennessee, the six-story hotel, located between West State Street and Shelby Street will have 170 parking spaces, including 8 handicapped-accessible spaces, an outdoor patio and a sun deck. Details on other amenities were not apparent in the plans.

Although the hotel is part of the Holiday Inn hotel chain, it will be locally owned.

The Tenneva would be located less than 4 miles away from a Holiday Inn Express, for which site plans were submitted earlier this year. Both Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express are owned by the same company, InterContinental Hotels Group.

The Tenneva hotel received approval for $5 million in tax increment financing from Bristol, Tennessee, and Sullivan County earlier this year.

Demolition for the buildings located on the proposed hotel site began in August.

The site plans have not yet been approved by the city, so there is the possibility that they may change.
