KINGSPORT, Tenn. — Kingsport police continue their search for a man they say was part of a shooting incident Saturday night at the Meadowview Conference Resort and Convention Center.
They are searching for Matthew Phillips, 29, of Dale Street in Kingsport. He is facing charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping and attempted second degree murder, according to a written statement.
He is described as a black male, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes and is considered armed and dangerous.
Two other suspects, Deonte Bristol and Brittany Stafford, are in custody. Bristol is charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping, attempted aggravated robbery and accessory after the fact to attempted second degree murder. Stafford is charged with being an accessory after the fact to attempted second degree murder
The incident occurred about 7:30 p.m., Saturday at the hotel and has been determined to have been initiated by a robbery attempt that occurred inside the hotel portion of the facility. It was not a random act of violence. It was a drug-related crime with specific people being targeted accordingly, according to the statement.
An unidentified 33-year-old male victim was treated and released for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
