ABINGDON, Va. — The Abingdon U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency is hosting a Women in Agriculture workshop at 4:30 p.m. May 2 at the Abingdon USDA Center.

The purpose of the workshop is to encourage more women to engage in USDA farm programs. The featured guest speaker will be local farmer Mandy Fletcher, who will discuss her farming operation and participation in USDA programs.

Several agency speakers will discuss farm programs available to women, including the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program, the Farm Storage Facility Loan Program and others.
