WASHINGTON COUNTY, VIRGINIA NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING In accordance with Va. Code §§ 15.2-2409 and 33.2-335, the Board of Supervisors of Washington County, Virginia, hereby gives notice of its intent to conduct a public hearing regarding: PROPOSED SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF OWNERS OF PROPERTIES ADJOINING AYRES LANE IN THE WILSON MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT The special assessment in an amount not to exceed $6,228.00 per parcel abutting Ayres Lane is proposed to fund construction improvements so that the road may be accepted by the Virginia Department of Transportation into the state secondary highway system, which would allow VDOT to maintain the road thereafter. If owners of 75% of parcels adjoining Ayres Lane contract with the County to pay their proportionate share of 50% of the cost to improve the road, VDOT will be requested to approve funding of the remaining 50%. If approved by VDOT, the County may pay the landowner share initially and require the owners of all parcels abutting Ayres Lane to reimburse the County by payment of proportionate shares of the actual expense of construction, not to exceed $6,228.00 per parcel. The payments will be secured by liens against the parcels and may be paid by special assessment over a period not to exceed 10-years. Anyone wishing to support or object to this proposal may appear at the public hearing in person or by counsel to make comments. The Board will consider approval of the request to VDOT and of the special assessments after a public hearing to be held at its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as may be heard, in the Board of Supervisors Auditorium at the County Government Center located at 1 Government Center Place, Suite A; Abingdon, Virginia.
