Verlin R. Simcox Verlin R. Simcox, 70, of Bristol, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on September 22, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Bristol, Va., a son to the late Horace and Juanita Henegar Simcox, and spent his life in the Bristol area. Verlin retired from UA Local #538 and was a member of Vance Bible Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Simcox; and a sister, Alta Hughes. Survivors include his wife, Judy Simcox; son, Jeff Simcox and wife, Kim; grandson, Christian Simcox; siblings, Kay Tallman and husband, Jay, Shirley Frye, and Teddy Simcox and wife, Ilene; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2013, 6 p.m., at the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg Kain officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 until 5:45 p.m., prior to the service. Committal service will be held Thursday, September 26, 2013, 11 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers include nephews, Mark Simcox, Mike Hughes, Ricky Tallman, Randy Frye, and Tim Hughes; and special friends, Tony Wood, Bill Caudill, Tom Ashworth, Rick McClain, Chad and Travis Swiney, Jacob Marshall, and Kenny Bailey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vance Bible Church, 425 Broyles Lane, Bristol, TN. The family would like to say special thanks to all the neighbors and his church family.
