Virginia Intermont College accreditation battle - HeraldCourier.com: News

Virginia Intermont College accreditation battle

Virginia Intermont has struggled for years to maintain accreditation status with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The commission placed the college on probation for two years when the school was nearly forced to close in 2007. That sanction was lifted in 2009 and VI resumed seeking its decennial reaccreditation. In 2011, the school was placed on warning, the lesser of SACS' two sanctions, but it was elevated to probation in December 2012.
