BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. –– Rivals Mountain States Health Alliance and Wellmont Health System stood united Thursday in an effort to get support for expansion of Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.
If expansion promoted under what many know as Obamacare is not adopted by legislators in Tennessee and Virginia, thousands of health care workers could lose their jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars could be lost locally, according to a study released Thursday by the Tennessee Hospital Association and emphasized by the Mountain Empire's leading health-care providers.
