The student who called 911 last week and told authorities a gunman was on the campus of the University of Virginia's College at Wise has now been federally charged.
Bryant Alexander Hairston, 20, of Martinsville, Va., was charged today in U.S. District Court with one count of knowingly making false, ficticious and fraudulent statements and representations.
Hairston called police and said there was a gunman on campus. Police from multiple agencies swarmed the Wise, Va., campus, looking for a gunman. It was later found the call was a hoax.
Check Tuesday's Bristol Herald Courier for more information about the charges.
