Tri-Cities area medical personal say the pesky flu virus seems to be hitting harder now than it did at the tail end of 2013, when doctors nationwide were reporting a crescendo of complaints.

A nasty guest could be coming into the region, just in time for the holidays.

Virginia health officials have put residents on notice for the stomach bug that is beginning to make its presence known in small outbreaks, but regional health officials in Bristol, Va., Sullivan County, Tenn. and other parts of Southwest Virginia are reporting no outbreaks yet.
