EMORY, Va. - An endowed scholarship has been established at Emory & Henry College in honor of former state Del. Joe Johnson by his fraternity brothers.
The Dom-I-Necher fraternity, one of the oldest on campus, raised $25,000 in the past two years to establish the scholarship, which was announced today on the college's campus.
"The Dom-I-Nechers are proud to have this scholarship in your name," fraternity President Carter Aylor told Johnson at the signing ceremony. "We could not think of a better gentleman to honor."
Johnson graduated from Emory & Henry College in 1957, and was a member of the Dom-I-Necher fraternity. He served in the U.S. Air Force and recently retired from 28 years of service in the Virginia General Assembly.
